Lollipop Recording is a studio that is run by Jason Ruch, a man who has been working with music since 1988. In the late 80's he played in several heavy metal bands and got his first experiences with making 4 track demos using home devices. Then while working with a female fronted band that was gaining fame and recording in a professional studio, Jason made friends with the owner of Vortex Sound, and was eventually granted an internship there. Five years were spent at Vortex Sound.
Born in 2003, Lollipop Recording has cut demos and made albums for dozens of [mostly] unsigned artists, whose genres are all across the board. Jason has said that he will work with anyone from female folk singers, to hip hop, to heavy metal groups. And he does it all with an affordable budget that works for the band. Instead of a set price, a deal is worked out between him and the band, and goes with what they can pay. Though he says that an eleven track album will approximately cost $1,900.
With some music producers, you can tell that it is all for the money. But when it comes to Jason Ruch and Lollipop Recording, I could tell just from reading his response that he really cares about the quality of the album that is produced and building a strong relationship with the band that he is working with. Loaded with professional grade recording tools, and a positive recording environment, this man is out to make your band sound the best that it can.
This company is located in Marlton, New Jersey and is only twelve miles away from Philadelphia with hotels and restaurants in a three mile radius.
Who is the owner(s) of Lollipop Recording?
My name is Jason Ruch and I am the owner of Lollipop Recording.
Where is Lollipop Recording located?
We are located in Marlton, New Jersey.
How difficult is it to get your studio out there?
Well, There are lots of really great studios out there as well as lots of not so great studios. It is pretty hard for artists to tell who is good at the craft and who is just a guy with a bunch of stuff that he sort of knows how it works. So. i guess I am saying is it is hard to get the word out there because everyone now thinks that they are an engineer and producer because they have the money to get some gear.
What kind of bands would be ones to record with you?
I work with all styles of artists.I have engineered and produced everything from singer songwriter to hip hop to extreme metal. Although I have a wide mix of artists in my client list, I am known for the heavy stuff . I record lots of really heavy bands.
Would you recommend it as a career to anyone else?
If music is their life and passion I would recommend it in a secound. If they are looking to make lots of money, then do something else. We all need to make a living but making records is not really about a paycheck. I once said if you want to make a million dollars in the recording business you have to start with five million.
