Sommer and Lauren!

Sommer and Lauren, or Lauren and Sommer, which ever you prefer are two lovely ladies that design jewelry and silkscreen t-shirts. They are crazy and definitely awesome. They are definitely worth spending some cash on with unique apparel destined to please any one.

How would each of you describe yourselves?
Lauren: How would You describe us?
Sommer: Well, how would you describe Yourself?

How long have each of you been designing?
Lauren: I basically designed all of my baby clothes.
Sommer: I was naked for the first 5 years of my life, so I didn't start that early- took me a bit to catch up.

Where do you get the inspiration for each of your designs?
Lauren: We have this grassy area we go to and we lay down and stare up at at the clouds. Then we see the different shapes they make and use it it for our designs.
Sommer: I saw the gypsy shirt in a piece of burnt toast.

How did you get your start in designing and screen printing and jewelry making? And what made you expand from jewelry to silkscreening?
Lauren: We are just artistic people, so we always like to create things.
Sommer: We made one thing, decided to sell it, and just progressed. And now we are here, talking to you.

Why Sommer & Lauren and not Lauren & Sommer?
Lauren: AMEN... yea, why not????
Sommer: I think the final verdict speaks for itself.

What are your favorite designs from your line? And what are some of your favorite places to shop at?
Sommer & Lauren: We love the gypsy shirt, panther undies, graffiti tanks- we think everything we do is pretty amazing.
We shop at American Apparel, Urban Outfitters, and collect things here and there while we are on tour!

Lauren, how has being a photographer affected your life?
Lauren: It's been really amazing, it has been something I have grown up loving and now I am doing it all the time! A dream come true :)

Sommer, you've been going to school and designing, what's that like? Is the class load affecting your work?
Sommer: Yes, I'm a full time student and I try not let the two effect eachother. I love this clothing line, but getting all of my degrees are just as important.

What did each of you major in for school?
Lauren: An Art Major, with a specialization in Photography.
Sommer: Pre-Professional Biology Major with a minor in Health Science.

If you could, would you open a small store and operate out of there? Or would you stick to working out of your home and tour buses?
Sommer & Lauren: We would definitely love to open a store, however we would make sure we are able to continue traveling and meeting all the people that wear our clothing!

How glamorized do you think you are by your fan base?
Sommer & Lauren: We hope all of our fans see us just as regular people, doing the things we love and not anything more.

What's the most ridiculous thing that you've heard about yourselves?
Lauren: Hahaha- we have heard some crazzzy stuff.
Sommer: For the most part, we are pretty normal- so don't believe everything you hear!

Is there any negative side to the limelight you guys get?
Lauren: Um, I don't think so... we get lots of awesome goodies from people!
Sommer: Yea, we get cupcakes and presents- keep those comin!

Where do you get all of your models from?
Sommer & Lauren: We just use friends of ours that like to help us out!

Have you decided which Warped dates you'll be on this summer?
Sommer & Lauren: You should always check our blogs on Myspace for the most up-to-date information. Our schedules change and we even update dates that might not be on there now!! As of now, Sommer is doing the first California dates, and Lauren will be on starting July 3rd.

You have both toured with your famed significant others, what's the most amazing place you've been to?
Lauren: Canada in winter is so incredibly beautiful. Especially the areas that are really old looking.
Sommer: I loved going to Canada and recently went to Hartford Connecticut and thought it was beautiful.

What're the best toppings for a hamburger? And where are the best ones served?
Sommer: Hahah this is the best question.
Sommer & Lauren: definitely ketchup, Mayo, mustard, lots of onions, bacon, cheese, pickles. YUM.

What can we look forward to in the future?
Lauren: Everything you could ever want.
