Fast times and Deadlines.

the academy is: Fast Times at Barrington High

Fans of The Academy Is...'s album 'Almost Here' can finally rejoice! Fast Times At Barrington High was released to the world on Tuesday, after the album had already been leaked on the bands page after bassist Adam T. Siska figured 'it's going to be leaked anyways, it might as well come straight from us.' While I was listening to the album on the bands page, a few things came to mind:

1. Fucking FINALLY, TAI! Almost Here was an incredible album, one that played continuously for months and months. Then I heard that they were coming out with a new album, 'Santi' and I was pretty excited for more brilliant tracks. What I got was a disappointing album with maybe one or two catchy songs, and the rest seemed forced and not true to the band at all. Fast Times at Barrington High finally brings the band back on track. EVERY SONG has a singalong, EVERY SONG is catchy, EVERY SONG just sounds like the band, and I love it.

2. Seniors in high school (like myself) can find a lot to relate to in this album. 'Paper Chase' is pretty much an anthem of graduation with lyrics like 'Please stand by, we've come so far. Four years,we survived the ride that turned us inside out.' The album pretty much follows the last few days of high school, summer vacation, and then finally the end of summer with 'One More Weekend.' Even though the boys are pretty well out of high school, they chronicled one of the biggest years of anyones lives perfectly.

3. Every single song on this album could be a single, and they can live off this one album forever kind of like Fergie. 'Summer Hair = Forever Young' has already come around with a video (as seen below), and every other song is just as good. One of my favorites 'Rumored Nights' is a little bit slower, but would make a hell of a better single than their last 'slow song' release of 'Everything We Had.' Uninvited, no one knows how much I care, how bad you are, How good we’d be, but you won’t let me in
Goodnight I’m leaving.'

I know The Academy Is... is not as 'small' as most of the bands we talk about on here, but I feel strongly enough about this album to recommend it to anyone. Especially those who loved Almost Here but hated the shit out of Santi like myself. Get a copy ASAP. It'd be worth the cash or risk of jail from illegal downloading.

And in relation to the contest going on, the NEW DEADLINE for contest entries is AUGUST 31ST. Send in all of your embarassing moments to theoddnotes@gmail.com and possibly win a 410 BC shirt if you have the funniest embarassing moment. Even if you have a friend who doesn't read the blog, either a) force them to read it, or b) force them to send an embarassing moment in!

Have a good day.

i disagree
:( i didn't like it because i loved santi, and i loved almost here, but i felt they were reverting and are so much better than what fast times illustrated. either way, they're great guys and i molested mike carden's shoulder, so it's all good
