Weekly Band Recommendations (Rego and Halloween, Alaska)

Here's this weeks batch of finds. Hope you all enjoy and appreciate them!

It seems that about every week I post up some female-fronted group.. So this week, I bring Rego to the table. Singer/songwriter Rebecca Rego is the leading lady of this band, and her bold yet feminine and warm voice is backed with bluesy guitars and soft drums. The tone of the songs that I've heard make them the perfect band to listen to while pouring out a drink for a love gone awry. Or something. I actually like this group so much that I'm a little miffed that there are only two songs on their myspace page.

Recommended song: After the War

Halloween, Alaska is band from Minneapolis that has become my favorite find of the week. They are a band that could probably play on mainstream radio, but could also keep credit with the indie kids who need their fix of picturesque lyrics and somewhat downer tunes. Smart, smart band, and I enjoy the poppy quality that the vocalist brings to the songs, but also the softer music that keeps everything laid-back. Definitely a band worth checking out and could leave many people satisfied.
