Sara and I finally got the opportunity to get together this past weekend. As you all know, she's been helping out with the blog for quite a while now, and since we're living in the same state and about two hours away, I got to go hang out with her in Belvidere overnight. Shortly after I got there (after much anxiety due to closed down Blue Line subways and faltering trains) we went to a hardcore show. I'm not much into the hardcore scene at all, but it was still fun to watch guys and gals who looked like they stepped freshly out of a Hot Topic throw down in some huge pits. Not going to lie, Belvidere, you all are a few years behind when it comes to style.
After the show and a trip to Culver's (I miss those in the city), we went back to her house and got to work at recreating the look for the blog. Obviously it has the same layout, but it was time for a color change. I found the cute little monsters picture, and Sara worked her magic on it to add the words and change the background color. NOTE: Neither Sara or myself drew the little monsters. We did edit the picture, but if you are the illustrator of these cute little guys, please e-mail us at theoddnotes@gmail.com so we can give you proper credit! There is also a new Top Five bands on the side.
Currently, we are working on a nice surprise for all of our readers. The word 'free' is involved, so that should instantly make it better. Lately, I have been living by the phrase "if it's free, it's for me." Chicago is fun, but it certainly is not cheap.
Also, now that I have a paypal account set up, we are still looking for sponsors! If you look to the side, you can see our lovely current sponsors, 410 BC and ElenArt. Rates are super cheap and with all that we've got planned coming up, there will be lots of viewers coming to see your advertisement! If you are interested, again, e-mail theoddnotes@gmail.com and we'll get you hooked up.
Time for me to jog off to class, now. Even though I love warm weather, it makes it a bitch to walk to class. And I kind of want fall to kick in so I can start wearing my sweaters and other cute items in my wardrobe (coughcough like the beautiful new winter boots I bought before I came here coughcough).
Au revoir!
