I first found out about Confide about a week ago when I saw them opening up for Bring Me The Horizon, immediately i thought they were amazing. They were so easy to get into and remind me a lot of the bands I listened to when I was first getting into a harder music scene. They're heavy but at the same time not hugely in your face with over powering instruments on top of heavy vocals. The bands stage presence is amazing, they're a lot more involved with the crowd than other bands in the same scene as them. One of my favorite things about this band is that they're not afraid to show their faith. Their music genres on myspace are Christian/Rock/Alternative and have a daily bible verse generator on their myspace page. Religion is not a large part of my life but any band related with a "hardcore" scene that can be that open about their religion really sits good in my book.
How and when did the band start?
The band started as a group of friends in youth group about 4 years ago now. We were all into the same music and just looking to start a jam band for fun and it slowly went from there.
What are the main influences of not only the sound of the band but you all as personal artists?
All of us like different bands and draw influences from all different styles of music. We actually don't listen to hardcore as much anymore. And when it comes to lyrics Ross draws from life experiences and his faith. We all write based off of our faith actually.
How is the current tour going?
This tour has been awesome so far. Most of the dates have sold out and we are really enjoying it!
What are your plans for after this tour?
We don't have anything set in stone yet but we will be going out again for sure in the new year. Keep your eyes posted on our myspace for dates soon to come.
From looking around your myspace a bit I can tell that you guys are rather religious, if at all, how do you think that sets you apart from other bands you've been on tour with or often get compared to?
Its how we started and why we do what we do. To love the kids for who they are and where they stand in life. We take a strong interest in meeting our fans and hope to make them our friends. to love on them like we feel Christ has loved on us. So maybe the thing that sets us apart is our motives. Not to say all bands are out there to party and make money and live the rock star lifestyle. But i suppose the reason why we do what we do sets us apart.
What do you think are the best and worst things about touring and band life in general?
Worst things have to be the weather. We just lived in our van for about a week straight in snowy conditions. Some of us got sick and it was really hard to get sleep when half your body was numb from the cold. The best parts have to be meeting so many people and seeing the whole world. We love going from town to town and experiencing everything there is as well as meeting all the new people.
Where are your favorite places to play?
The major states are always pretty awesome to us. CA, FL, TX, NY. We always have a good time and the kids are always awesome for us in those states especially.
Are there any projects you'd like to get into or any bands you'd like to work with or tour with someday?
We met so many rad bands on warped tour this summer and would love to do some club tours with them. Norma Jean were amazing dudes along with A Day To Remember and From First To Last. Any of those bands would be awesome to hit the road with.
Can fans be expecting any new material coming for you guys soon?
Our record has yet to even hit stores yet and be pushed by a label so we are waiting for that to happen. see how well it does and probably go back to writing and recording in a year or so.
