Artist Interview: Tom Falcone

A few months ago I interviewed Tom Falcone, and it was slightly embarrassing. First, I thought he was of Cute Is What We Aim For fame (I still won't ever forget that) and then I was surprised not only to find out that he was not a musician in a popular pop-rock group, but also that he was only sixteen years old.

It's been awhile though, and now the young photographer is seventeen. Still youthful, and still incredibly impressive. He's making his mark by doing live and promotional shots for various bands, and his photographs that he took has been printed in Alternative Press magazine. I've kept in touch with him a little bit through e-mails, and it sounds like he's still kicking, so I asked if he would do a follow up interview. He was down, and this time, I didn't make any embarrassing blunders.

Name: Tom Falcone
Age: 17
How have you been since we last spoke to you?: Great, keeping busy, and livin' the life
What have you been up to since your last interview as well?: Many...many states...and even Aruba haha
What were you doing on Warped Tour, and how did you manage to go out on tour?: In...January 2009, I did a shoot with There For Tomorrow. We kept in touch and I ended up asking them if I can ride with them for a week of Warped and it ended up being great times. Throughout the week, my main objective was to just promote myself as much as possible, meeting bands, handing out my card, taking live photos and even squeezing in promotional shoots throughout the day if anyone wanted to book me.
As a young artist, are your abilities ever questioned by clients and others?: Yes, but no at the same time. Many people know I'm seventeen. Many people don't. Some management collectives do not ask for any personal information. They base what they see off your resume and portfolio. When it comes time to meeting the band and shooting, a few questions are asked but most of the time it rules because band members range from 18-20 something haha. It always works out for the best
Are you planning on going to college to pursue photography or anything else? Or are you just continuing on with your current photography career?: I am looking to attend photography school next fall. I have to take care of some business this year, but I will be going to school no worries haha. If that fails and I get bigger offers...well...only time will tell.
It seems that you primarily shoot bands, are there any other subjects that you like photographing?: Landscapes are beautiful. Mountains, and lakes and all that corny stuff. It's awesome.
Which bands have you been listening to lately?: Set Your Goals...Sing It Loud fo sho...I'm pretty excited for the new Breathe Carolina...
What's next for you?: A bunch of label shoots and a bunch of school work. Maybe a tour or two in the fall/winter. Who knows right now!
