the Famous Living Dead Brigade

Everyone needs a place where they feel like they can belong, right? For teenagers and young adults all across the globe, there is a craving for somewhere to feel wanted, normal, needed even. That's where The Famous Living Dead Brigade comes in. Starting as just The Living Dead Brigade, a place was created on myspace for anyone to come and feel wanted. Nearly two years and a good 200 plus friends requests later one of the moderators Ghost gave us a good look on the development of The Famous Living Dead Brigade.

What does the FLDB stand for and where did the name come from?
FLDB stands for the Famous Living Dead Brigade. The name was taken from a line from the My Chemical Romance song "This Is How I Disappear"

Who decided to start the FLDB and why?
Rose started the FLDB as a safe space for people to come together and express themselves through art. It's pretty much a second home for most of us.

What was the inspiration for the FLDB?
I believe it was in part inspired by the Dresden Dolls' Dirty Business Brigade, as well as the punk DIY ethic of living life for yourself.

Who is welcome to join? What are they expected to bring to the table?
Anyone who feels like they have something to express, anyone who is in need of a place to be themselves, regardless of what that might be. We welcome people with open hearts and open minds. All we ask is that people be their own weird selves and respect others for doing the same

From your myspace I see members that are in the same area as each other have meet ups at different events and such, how far across the country does the FLDB extend to?
We have people from all over the place, including Scotland and the Czech Republic.

What sort of activities is everyone involved with?
We've had people involved in ComiCon, World Zombie Day and we're currently planning to try and walk in the New York AIDS Walk in the spring.

Is there anything new and interesting planned for the group?
We are going to be working on starting an online radio station soon, and we've also got a youtube channel that we'll be putting to good use soon. Oh, we also have an ezine! Our ezine usually hosts art and writing from both members and non-members of the FLDB.

What do you hope to achieve with the FLDB?
A safe, accepting community for people who don't feel they fit into the mainstream view of society.
