Listen to this: More Amor

More Amor is a band that I just started listening to not very long ago. I heard their name thrown around on the Internet, and when I finally got around to checking them out - I was pleasantly surprised. The band is made up of two guys, Tom and Kyle, and a trusty iPod. Each of their songs offer up something a little different. From the energized track with powerful vocals 'OB Forever' to the slower and easy to sing along with 'Young Hollywood.' My personal favorites are 'Little Bit' and 'Same Damn Song' (just to throw in some more recommendations).

This duo has hit the nail on the head on creating a great balance between the use of their instruments and technology. I was able to get an interview with one half of the group, Kyle, so read and get to know a little more what they're about. And then definitely show them your support.

Half of your band right now is an iPod, are you looking to fill the positions, or do you like it that way?
We've pretty much decided that we are like peas in a pod. Maybe even an iPod. We have also pretty much decided that our pod is only big enough for two peas. So to answer your question, it's really our iPods decision to only have two of us. We do however, like it that way.

What has it been like playing together as More Amor as opposed to other bands you have played with?
More Amor has kind of been something we have wanted to do for a long time. We've been best buds for quite sometime and it felt like a collaboration of our talents was inevitable. I think for both of us, this time around, we are really happy with the music we are making and the roles we are playing in the group. It's been nothing but a blast so far and I dont see that slowing down anytime soon.

You guys released an album a little bit ago, are there any music videos in the works? What song of yours do you think would make an awesome video?
We did self release a record last summer, and we have brainstormed some awesome ideas for videos. We'd love to make a video for Young Hollywood. It could be really fun documenting us running around our new home. We will be making some videos in the future. I assure you. We'll all just have to wait and see what songs we end up doing.

Have you guys done any tours together yet? Are you planning on doing any, and who are some musicians you would love to tour with?
We actually did do a small tour out to CMJ last Fall. We packed Toms Camry hybrid up to the roof with our gear, and our clothes, and hit the open road. We only played 5 shows altogether but had a blast on our road trip to the big apple. We plan our touring our lives away in the near future. As a group, some of the bands we would love to tour with in the future include Tegan and Sara, Justice, MGMT, and Boyz II Men to name a few.

What are your goals as musicians?
I think with all musicians, our biggest goals are to have an opportunity for people to hear our music, and to just improve all around musically. Not only as single musicians, but together, to become a better band.

Word has it that BOXeight is going to get some stuff set up for you, how are you feeling about that?
We are really stoked to have the opportunity to be working with the BOXeight crew. They are all artistically talented, awesome people with real drive to get things done. We are excited to be able to grow with them as artists and as a community.

What are each of your current top five musicians?
As of right now, my top 5 favorite musicians, in no particular order, would have to be John Mayer, Paul McCartney, Kanye West, Dan Keyes, and Tegan and Sara. They count as one by the way. This is constantly changing though as you could imagine.

Where do you pull your inspirations from?
Inspiration comes from all over the place. The California air, the California trees, the California girls. It comes from other artistic and driven people. It comes from a glass of whiskey on ice in a hot tub with Marvin Gaye serenading you. It comes from beautiful dogs you can pet with your friends. Inspiration is everywhere.

Are we going to continue seeing more of that sexy mannequin?
That sexy mannequin you speak of is our old friend Tayshawn. He is the backbone of More Amor and our closest allie in this world full of madness. He keeps our heads on straight and we keep his moustache on straight. Tayshawn will probably outlive us.

What is something the world needs more of?
The world needs more Arrested Development. Enough said.

What is next for More Amor?
We are actually in the process of colonizing the moon before the summers end. We are working with some head officials over at NASA to get the development finished before the fall comes. We are going to be holding an online raffle to see who gets to come with us. The raffle will happen sometime this summer and you must be 18 years or older to enter. Keep checking myspace.com/moreamor for more details in the months to come.

Anything else?
Yea. The future is bright, must wear shades.

Hahah. That was just... amazing! Totally different and outstanding than most interviews these days. Great work and that band truly is something. (;
